The unpredictability and uncertainty of natural disasters make humanity extremely vulnerable. Floods, cyclones, tsunamis and other natural calamities cause large-scale devastation. The loss of property and livelihoods, as well as the impact it has on physical wellbeing and mental health are the most oft-seen effects of a natural disaster.

Amphan Cyclone

Cyclonic storm Amphan was a catastrophic tropical cyclone that caused boundless harm in Eastern India, especially in West Bengal and Bangladesh in May 2020. The worst-affected localities were South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas. Lakhs of houses were damaged, low-lying territories immersed and crops over thousands of acres destroyed.

COVID-19 Relief During Ramadan

The year 2020 has left the world reeling under multi-fold impact of the Covid-19 outbreak. Besides the devastating loss of lives, the lockdown imposed to control the virus also dampened the growth of the global economy, leading to alarming levels of job losses. With the help of well-meaning donors, Sahayata Trust supported 4,70,415 beneficiaries who suffered during this period, rendering help worth $1,192,520. This was disbursed as cooked meals, grocery kits, fitra kits, Iftar kits and medicines to needy, as well as PPE kits given to hospitals.

2019 India Floods

3200 flood victims were aided with the help of our donors

Thanks to the donors, Sahayata Trust was able to provide relief to more than 3,200 flood victims across India in 2019. With devastating floods ravaging parts of Kerala, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Assam and Bihar, reports of huge damage to life and property came in. Assam, Kerala and Karnataka were particularly affected states.

Sahayata’s Emergency response team arrived on the scene within 24-48 hours to assess the situation and took remedial measures. With the help of our benefactors, our emergency response team, was able to provide kits containing essentials like food, water, medicine and sanitary items.
